Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask us most — answered honestly.

Are you licensed by ChildCareBC?
Yes. Both Pixel Wonderland locations are fully licensed by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development as family home daycares. Our licence numbers are available on request and posted in each home.
Do you accept the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)?
Yes. We are registered with BC's Affordable Child Care Benefit program. Eligible families can receive a monthly subsidy that significantly reduces their out-of-pocket childcare costs. We'll help you with the ACCB application process when you enroll.
What ages do you serve?
We serve children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Fleetwood South (9256 163A St) serves infants (0–18 months) and toddlers (18 months–3 years). Fleetwood North (9270 163A St) serves preschoolers ages 3–5.
How many children are in each group?
Maximum 8 children per location. This is intentional — small groups mean individualized attention, consistent relationships, and a calm, home-like environment.
What are your hours?
Both locations are open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on all BC statutory holidays.
Are all your educators ECE certified?
Yes. Every caregiver holds a current BC Early Childhood Education certificate with either the Infant/Toddler or Preschool specialization. All staff maintain Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
How do you communicate with parents throughout the day?
Through our parent app, you'll receive real-time photo updates, daily reports (meals, naps, mood, activities), and milestone notes. You'll always know how your child is doing.
Do children go outside every day?
Rain or shine. Daily outdoor time is part of our routine. We believe fresh air and nature exploration are essential for healthy development. We dress appropriately for all weather.
What is your sick child policy?
Children who are unwell should stay home to recover and to protect other children and staff. We follow BC DCYF illness guidelines. If your child becomes sick during the day, we will contact you to arrange pickup promptly.
How long is your waitlist?
Infant and toddler spots typically fill 6–12 months in advance. We strongly recommend applying as early as possible — even during pregnancy. Preschool spots open more frequently.
What meals and snacks do you provide?
We do not provide meals — families send a packed lunch and snacks daily. We do provide a morning and afternoon snack on some days; please ask us directly. For infants, we accommodate your feeding schedule including breast milk and formula.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Yes. We welcome children of all abilities. If your child has specific needs, we encourage you to contact us before applying so we can have an honest conversation about whether our setting and support can meet those needs well.
What is your policy on photos and social media?
Photos are shared exclusively through our secure parent app — only to the specific child's family. We never post identifiable photos of children to social media. Each family signs a photo consent form at enrollment.
What happens if I need to pick my child up late?
Our closing time is 6:00 PM. If you anticipate a late pickup, please contact us as early as possible. Late pickup fees apply after 6:00 PM.
Do you offer part-time care?
We primarily offer full-time care (Monday–Friday). Part-time spaces are occasionally available — contact us to ask about current availability.
Is parking available at both locations?
Yes. Street parking is available on 163A Street at both locations. Both homes are on residential streets with typically easy parking.
How do I apply for ACCB?
The Affordable Child Care Benefit is administered through the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development. Applications are made directly through the province. We'll provide you with our facility registration number and help you navigate the process at enrollment.
What curriculum do you follow?
We use BC's Early Learning Framework as our guide. Our approach is play-based — children learn through exploration, investigation, and adult-supported play. We do not use a commercial preschool curriculum package.
