About This Program
The preschool years — ages 3 to 5 — are when children begin to emerge as learners with opinions, questions, and ideas. They're ready to explore the world with purpose. Our preschool program meets them exactly where they are.
We use a play-based approach guided by BC's Early Learning Framework. Every activity — whether it's building with blocks, painting, gardening, or dramatic play — is purposefully designed to support school readiness. By the time children leave us for kindergarten, they know how to sit with a group, follow routines, use scissors, write their name, count with understanding, and most importantly: they love learning.
Curriculum Areas
Pre-Literacy & Phonics
Letter recognition, phonemic awareness, print concepts, story comprehension — all through books, games, and play.
Pre-Numeracy & Math
Counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, measurement, and early problem-solving. Math is everywhere when you look for it.
STEM Exploration
Simple experiments, nature science, building challenges, and questions about how the world works.
Dramatic & Creative Play
Role play, puppet shows, storytelling, art in all forms — developing imagination, narrative thinking, and self-expression.
Social Studies & Community
Understanding families, community helpers, cultures, seasons, and our place in the neighbourhood of Fleetwood.
Self-Regulation & School Readiness
Sitting in a group, taking turns, asking for help, managing frustration — the skills kindergarten teachers wish every child had.
